This procurement takes place within the HPCQS project, funded by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (JU) and the participating member states in equal parts, under the call EuroHPC-2020-01-b. It involves two public procurers, GENCI and Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (FZJ), located in France and Germany, respectively, which work together in a joint procurement. GENCI is the lead procurer appointed to lead the procedure for selecting the contractor for each lot. The goal of each public procurer is to buy one 100+ qubits (quantum bits) quantum simulator that will be tightly integrated with its Tier-0 supercomputer. These systems are expected to be delivered latest at the end of 2023. In addition, these two hybrid (HPC+quantum) systems should allow the development of prototypes for scientific and industrial applications, including but not limited to,machine learning and optimizations. Furthermore, these systems are intented to address common innovation topics.
