HeritageMaps.ie is a one stop shop for heritage data sets displayed through an ArcGIS platform. This viewer is a web-d spatial data viewer which focuses on the built, cultural and natural heritage around Ireland and off shore. HeritageMaps.ie provides access to heritage data along with contextual data from a very wide range of sources. The user can create cross-disciplinary views from hundreds of datasets - crossing over administrative boundaries, subject boundaries, and the land-sea boundary. The viewer offers a unique perspective, building up national coverage of heritage datasets from multiple sources as well as using existing national datasets. It uses web services to access live data where possible, thereby increasing data reliability.

The datasets in Heritage Maps have been sourced from a range of departments, state agencies, organisations and initiatives:  including inter alia: Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Fáilte Ireland, the Geological Survey of Ireland, the Marine Institute, the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Museum of Ireland, the National Parks and Wildlife Service, the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage, the National Biodiversity Data Centre, the Office of Public Works, the Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland and Local Authorities.
