The Department wishes to commission a mixed methods study of the older LGBTI+ population in Ireland to identify needs, strengths and challenges they experience and to generate evidence to inform the ongoing implementation of the National LGBTI+ Inclusion Strategy 2019-2021 (Department of Justice, 2019). The Department is interested in line information to policy responses and monitor into the future wellbeing among the older LGBTI+ population. For this exercise older is defined as aged 50 or older, but the Department is particularly interested in understanding how diverse older age cohorts differ from each other and differ from the heterosexual older age cohorts.
