Ballyhoura Development CLG is inviting written tenders from competent individuals, companies or consortia with experience and expertise in the areas of climate change mitigation and adaptation, energy efficiency, community energy project management, and community sustainability planning, to define a Strategy for the transition of Ballyhoura Communities to a sustainable and green future.

The Ballyhoura Communities Green Transition strategy views climate action as an enabler of local development, d on providing individual and community ownership of the transition to zero carbon societies, and enhancing public support by tackling inequality and raising standards of living through the delivery of climate mitigation pathways.

The aim of the strategy is to facilitate communities across the Ballyhoura area to address the challenges and opportunities of a Just Transition, and in doing so, to become prototype models for towns, villages and hinterlands to transition towards net-zero carbon emissions by 2030.  

The strategy will provide a roadmap defining the ambition, process, supports, targets and projects which will be necessary to bring about real community led changes. This project is envisioned as complementary to the focus on grassroots community empowerment through Ballyhoura Development’s leadership of the SEAI Sustainable Energy Communities (SEC) Network.
