BBC Design and Engineering’s (D+E) Online Technology Group (OTG) is responsible for the operational management of all the BBC’s internet protocol (‘IP’) d services, devices and networks across all platforms (including cloud, on-premise and virtual machines (VMs), and the performance of these services as perceived by BBC’s end-users/audience. This includes responsibility for the BBC’s owned infrastructure and presence in the public or private cloud and, within that operational management, the responsibility to attain an uptime of 99.99 % for all BBC’s IP d services.

OTG is looking overall to create a flexible monitoring solution that is able to mix and match a number of interoperable monitoring products and hence allow BBC to use ‘best of breed’ products for each function and platform. Therefore, interoperability is key to BBC’s web monitoring services requirements.
